Life and blog update + Collective Skincare Haul

I did my comeback last week with the review of Etude House's 101 Pencils, but I feel like this article is actually the comeback article. I couldn't come out of my hiatus with this rather not-really-review-oriented blog post and up until now, I was frankly debating with myself whether I should write this or not, if this would be relevant or not.
But the little changes I recently made in my life actually matter and well, get into the beauty description the way I see it.

First and foremost, the issue on hauls and reviewing products :

I’m well aware that the last few posts are all hauls. I personally love hauls and have a twisted mind of liking to be enabled. Now, I know haul posts aren’t actually constructive or that interesting when you think about it which is why I'll only do a rather quick combined haul in this post.

Why have I been posting hauls then ?

Here’s the thing, to truly give you an honest opinion on products, I have to test them out for a subsequent amount of time : 2 weeks to a full month after a full week and half of patch testing. One product at a time, and the time gets even longer when I do react badly to a product (which has been the case lately). I end up accumulating unopened new products waiting to be tested at the right time.

In almost all of the hauls I’ve done, I’ve always mentioned that I’ll do full review on all the products that I’ve bought but here’s the reason why it doesn't always happen : Either the product was pretty bad, I’ve finished all of it before being able to snap pictures or even have a definite opinion or I simply felt like it was pointless to even review it.
I’ve been learning from my mistakes and so, I’ve been paying a particular attention to ingredients and I’m refraining myself from buying stuff without having read a few reviews on them too.

When working-out and overall lifestyle changes bring out the beauty in you

I never really talk about myself in this blog, I like to stay pretty private about who I'm and I've never actually shown my face yet. I'm still debating on all of that stuff, and if one day I'll be brave enough to show myself , that would probably happen on my instagram so you know where to stalk me. Talking about Instagram, you'll notice that I posted this picture :
Une photo publiée par WishedChronicles (@wishedchronicles) le

What's so crazy and interesting is that I'm the exact opposite of that picture. I hate sports, I'm bad at it and never really enjoyed it either. I was that kid in High School asking why sports were including in the baccalauréat (French secondary school diploma) grading. After spending almost a year with either a cast and a splint on both of my ankles, now that both of my ankles are finally healed, I've decided to actually start working out. I mentioned a few times in my first articles that I had stress and anxiety issues last year due to school, working out helped me a lot with dealing with stress and anxiety for my finals this year, amazingly enough I didn't get stressed at all.

Why is this relevant for this blog ?

Here's the thing, stress can be a major reason for break outs, and it was for me. Getting my stress issue fixed helped my skin to stay clear especially after breaking out from testing new product as I said in the first part. I've also changed my diet and stopped eating unnecessary food, I've never been into junk food but hey.. I'm a student and diet choices aren't always that great. All of this helped my skin a lot, and if you are struggling with either stress or anxiety I do suggest trying that out. Not only did it helped my asthmatic self with improving my cardio, the dopamine rise after your work out will make you feel better than ever. If you hate sports and need a little more inspiration : you can read this article from Into the Gloss : I Hate Working Out (But It Feels So Good).

So would you be up for some burpees like the never-aging Sandara ?

Collective Skincare Haul

I hope all of this wasn't too long, so I won't be babbling about these purchases. I'll be making a list of where to shop soon as I tried a few of them now.

I've restocked on Nars Sheer Glow foundation (review) here and somehow splurged on Su:m 37's Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick. I purchased it on an impulse, I never should've but here we are.
The foundation is from Sephora and the Cleansing Stick from W2beauty (excellent service read here).

As I was battling with break outs from testing products, I thought I would give Cosrx's BHA Blackhead Power Liquid a try, review to come (And I mean it !). I bought it from Jolse.

That's a hell lot of sheet masks there. For the last few months, I've been kind of addicted to /r/AsianBeauty, and you can't get out of the sheet mask temptation when you lurk there. Innisfree's global website got 1+1 deal going on and I got 40+40 = 80 sheetmasks but.. There was an issue, I said I won't make this long so you can read the whole story here.

A little haul filled with Mizon products. The snails creams were for my mother so you won't see any reviews of those, but I'll review the Good Night White Sleeping Mask and Too Cool For School's Pumpkin Sleeping Mask when I'll get to try them fully. I have yet to try the Mizon one though so that will take a while. Bought this from Roseroseshop.

Stocked up on Klairs' cleansing oil (review) and picked up Cosrx's Hyaluronic Acid from Wishtrend. Cropping is bad on this picture, my apologies, but I've got Biore's UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50 PA ++++ , Innisfree's Eco Safety Perfect Sunblock SPF 50 PA +++ and Missha's All Around Safe Block Essence Sun SPF 45 PA +++ as sunscreens. I can already tell you that I broke out from Biore's, as much I wanted my skin to love it as much I did , I also broke out from Innisfree's and I'm currently giving Missha's a try. (Biore's sunscreen is from Ichibankao, and the last two sunscreen from Roserosehop.)
I will be doing a sunscreen post with these 3 ones, along with a french one.

I haven't stopped looking for sunscreens and because I loved Innisfree's one and I'm suspecting Zinc Oxide to be the problem, I purchased Innisfree's new sunscreen line (Extreme Safety) from Testerkorea.

And that is all ! Next week will be Banila Co's Clean it Zero cleansing balm, or the one who hated me even though I was in love with it.

Wishtrend Haul (Cosrx, C20)

Another haul, and I was supposed to write this as the "last haul before going on a no-buy mode" but somehow I managed to make 4 other orders from different websites. To my defense, I said I was going to try other shops since my last Testerkorea fiasco but I didn't know it would be this soon. If you follow me on my instagram, you'll see a preview of one those 4 orders.

Let's get to this Wishtrend Haul, shall we ?

Wishtrend

I've already did a little presentation of the website in an earlier blogpost presenting this little bottle of amazingness :

C20 - Original Pure Vitamin C20 Serum

You already know how much I love this serum, it was only a given that I was going to repurchase it.

  • Brand :  C20 (OST)
  • Name:  Original Pure Vitamin C20 Serum
  • Quantity : 30 ml
  • Price : 14,99$
  • Product link: Click here
If you're interested by this product, know that there's special deal with this serum : You can get the Vitamin Starter Kit for Brightening purposes here with this serum and the cream that goes with it.

C20 - Pure Vitamin C21.5 Advanced Serum

  • Brand : C20
  • Product : Pure Vitamin C 21.5 Advanced Serum
  • Quantity: 30ml
  • Price :  24,99$
  • Product link : Click here
This serum is the upgraded version of the C20 Original Serum. It's formulated with an additional 1,5% of Pure Vitamin C and lack of fillers and parabens that the previous one has. Less ingredients, supposedly better absorption. I had to get it to try it out. I'll probably do a comparison review with the Original version.

There's also a deal going for this product : Here

Cosrx - AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner and Naturally Embo Cotton Puff

I've been wanting Mizon's AHA/BHA Toner for the longest time ever but as it's nowhere to be found on the market, I've decided to try the new and upcoming Korean Brand Cosrx (pronounced Coseurexeu , see, I knew that knowing how to read Korean would help). Along with the toner I decided to throw in their Cotton puff to use with said toner.

I've gotten into the acids bandwagon and I've been reading a lot about pH, AHA, BHA and retinoids. And along those lines, although the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid (I ordered this in one of those 4 orders) isn't in the deal : There's a Sol-Kit AHA/BHA deal going on Wishtrend that is worth checking out : here

  • Brand : Cosrx
  • Product : AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner
  • Quantity: 150 ml
  • Price : 12,60$
  • Product link : Click Here

  • Product : Naturally Embo Cotton Puff
  • Quantity: 80 pcs
  • Price: 2,80$
  • Product link: Click here

Free Samples

After the no-free-samples order from Testerkorea, I was pleasantly surprised by the freebies I got from Wishtrend. Along with 3 informative cards about some of their products, I got a sample of Cosrx's Advanced Snail All in One Cream and samples from a brand I didn't know : Chica Y Chico. As you can see, I also got a free Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Mask , funny enough I was tempted to buy one when I did my cart some days prior. I kind of already used it :

Testerkorea Haul 3 : Laneige, Innisfree , Etude House, Banila Co, etc..

Another Testerkorea haul today. Some products from my previous wishlist are there, and some aren't.
I started my last Testerkorea Haul with the free gifts given by the site but, for the first time ever, I got no samples whatsoever. In terms of value, this order was the most expensive compared to the previous one and my guess is that they forgot to add samples but.. I can't help but feel bummed out. I e-mailed them about it and they didn't even have a proper excuse so..It's probably time for me to start trying out some other websites !

Innisfree - Sheet Masks

If you've been reading my articles, you might know that I've become a fan of Innisfree's sheet masks. These were pretty inexpensive and perfect for my upcoming late night studying sessions. I've already reviewed the Shea Butter (here) and mentioned the Green Tea one here.

  • Type : Full-Size
  • Quantity : 4 masks
  • Skin Solution Mask - Moisturizing - Price : 735 won
  • It's real Squeeze Mask - Shea Butter
  • It's real Squeeze Mask - Green Tea
  • It's real Squeeze Mask - Bamboo
  • Price : 665 won
  • Product links : Squeeze Masks & Skin Solution Masks

Etude House - Play 101 Pencils

I've had my eyes on these pencils for the longest time ever. The constant 30% deal Testerkorea has, sold me on these. I'm going to review these soon, so there are no extra pictures for this post !

  • Type: Full size
  • Quantity :  6 x 0,5g
  • Price :  6 x 4200 won
  • Shades :  5, 11, 12 , 21, 22, 49
  • Product link here

LANEIGE - Original Essence White Plus Renew

I ordered 4 boxes of this Laneige line in my previous order, I got the full size version here for my mother. Because I was using my OST serum at the same time, I didn't see much difference with the essence on me (the Emulsion and Skin Refiner kept on me breaking me out) but my mother said she has seen a change in her skin. The line didn't broke her out though so I wouldn't put it pass the product.
When I got the box out, I saw this lipstick with the free tag on. Now, I can read Korean but I don't understand what I read (really helpful I know.. Time for me to get some lessons) but my guess is that it's an event because they won 40 beauty awards with this product or something. Anyways, we got a tiny free lipstick.

The packaging looks so good though, I almost feel jealous !

Cool toned pink lipstick with shimmers. The opacity is just like how Koreans like it, enough to be able to make a gradient lip and semi-opaque full lip.

Su:m 37 - Water-full gel timeless Essence

It's Skin - Pure Moisture Gel

I'll admit it. I only got these sample pouches because the triangle size was cute and because it's a practical way to apply moisturizer for my upcoming road trip.

The Face Shop - Rice Water Bright Cleansing foam

I mentioned the milk version of this product in my wishlist and the foam version of Nature Republic's Aloe Vera cleanser but it was sold out so I got the foam version of The Face Shop's Rice Water Bright instead.

LANEIGE - Water Bank Essence

The White Plus renew Essence didn't work out for me but I thought I'll try out the Water Bank Essence to bring back some moisture into my skin.

Innisfree - The Green Tea Seed Serum

I didn't get any samples for this and went straight for the full size, I read great reviews on this product and I'm hoping that Innisfree won't disappoint me ! Review here

Banila Co - Clean It Zero (Original version)

As I said in my wishlist, I've wanted this product for the longest time ever. I wanted to try balm type of products and let's face it, when Ace Song Ji Hyo uses it, you just want it too. (Video of Song Ji Hyo using it here , I do want to mention that she's endorsing Banila Co so don't be suprised by all the Banila Co branded product she uses). I will be reviewing this product as well so no extra pictures of it yet !

  • Type : Full Size
  • Quantity : 100 ml
  • Price : 12 600 won (I got it for 18 000 won but as I was writing this article, I've noticed that Testerkorea keeps on fluctuating prices, so if you have an item in mind, check the website daily and you might see the price decrease or.. increase if your lack some luck !)
  • Product link here

The next haul is already on its way ! And this time, it'll be a Wishtrend haul ! Don't forget to use the promotional codes (located in the right sidebar) if you're hauling on Wishtrend as well !

ps : I am also on Reddit and /r/asianbeauty!

Tiny Haul : Lush and their bath bombs

I went into Lush many times, but I never purchased anything. I love the concept, the products seem pretty promising but the prices and the short-term life of the products never really spoke to me. This little bag, is actually a little birthday gift from my sister, it's not a haul per say but it's close enough.

Now, I'm never been a bath person either. It's just not my thing but my bathroom got revamped right before my birthday and a new bath tub called in for a little bath with some Lush magic.

My sister apparently went into the store and said something like : "She's in the middle of finals. She needs to chill" (Which I really needed !). Basically, all of these bath bombs have the particularity to soothe and get you into that chill and stress free atmosphere.

On the picture below, the little green bar is a sample of some jelly like soap bar called "Miranda". I didn't like the smell nor did I like the soap finish of it.

This one right here is called "Twilight" and has the particularity to be pretty big compared to other regular bombs. The effervescent trick of it was pretty cool and it left the water purple. Those little white/creamy dots on it are actually shimmers and you're left with soft and barely-there shimmers on your body afterwards.

This yellow bath bomb is called "Cinders" and although I don't remember the smell, I do remember that those red parts didn't really do much (supposedly It would pop, but I didn't see any of that) and do keep in mind that you have to wash your tub afterwards, as it leaves a yellow cast making it seem like your tub is dirty as hell.

The last one is called "Floating Island" and isn't a sphere like the two others and doesn't have any uniqueness to it. I haven't tried it yet so no effect whatsoever to tell, but the lack of color would probably result in me, not being that excited to watch the effervescence of it in the water.

Fairly quick article. The price of the bath bombs vary depending on the weight and the particularity of it, but they usually retails between 2€ to 6€ and are great gifts ideas.

Haul : TesterKorea Order (Missha, Laneige, Innisfree..)

This -not so- little order was triggered by a sold-out set I was keeping an eye on for a while and when it restocked, I just jumped on it and figured that I could just throw some other item in it.

Ordered on : November 9th
Shipped out on : November 19th
Came to French customs : November 27th
Came to my post office : November 28th

Free samples + Gift

Let's start off by what I normally end with. When I ordered this, Testerkorea was having some event with Paypal : Pay 100$ + via paypal and you'll get a free gift. The gift was Skinfood's Tomoto Whitening Point Pad (10pcs). I kind of complained in my last Testerkorea order with the free samples but it seems like you get more samples when you.. pay more. Figures ! I got 3 pouches of the same samples :
- Tony Moly : Panda's Dream White Magic Cream x3
- Tony Moly : I'm Real seaweed Aqua Moisture Lotion x3
- Tony Moly : I'm Real Tea Tree Essence and Lotion x 3
- Nature Republic : Super Origin CC Cream x 2
- Tony Moly - Red Appletox Honey Cream x3
- The Oriental gyeon booster x1

IOPE - Moisture skin soft peeling gel

Laneige - White plus renew trial kit

Now, this was the product which triggered this whole order. I wanted to try this higher-end brand  for so long now. I got the samples of the White Plus Renew Line, and because I wanted to truly try them out to get a real opinion (and maybe results ?), I got 2 boxes (the 2 others are for my mother).
This kit is composed with :
- Original essence white plus renew 10ml
- White plus renew skin refiner 15ml
- White plus renew emulsion 15ml
- White plus renew original cream 10ml
- White plus renew capsule sleeping pack 3ml

INNISFREE - No sebum Mineral Pact

I got the loose powder version in my previous order and a full review of both products is coming up !

Laneige - Water sleeping Pack EX

The other famous product from Laneige I wanted to try. A lot of people have been raving about this and I really wanted to try sleeping packs as I find sheet masks a bit more annoying.
I got 2 packs of 4ml x 10 packets costing 4000 won, which equals to 40 ml (with 20 packs) for 8000 won. A full size of this product cost 25 000 won for 80 ml and half of the full size in these terms cost 12 500 won, so I got 4500 won off of this (you can't blame the business student for bargaining and maths a little !).

Sulwhasoo - Timetreasure renovating eye cream

A product for my mother by this huge luxurious brand, when I take a look of their pricing it's incredible. Let's see if this sample version will work for her.

MISSHA - Oil control film

I never really needed blotting sheets but the struggle I have with my current foundation made me buy this. They are MISSHA branded but aren't expensive at all (approx 1,27€/1.58$) compared to the 10€ blotting sheets Sephora France are selling right now (and cashiers really do try to make you buy 10€ blotting sheets !).

MISSHA - Magic Cushion Case

I ordered this after I placed my order and they kindly added the item for me. Now, I don't know if this is a little mishap or gift from them, or if I simply don't get the description of the item well : I ordered only one cushion case and I got 3, in the description it says 3 items but I legitimately thought it was referring to the items in it as the case, sponge and puff. Anyhow, mishap or not, if this is the reward to be called their mate I'll accept it !

(PS : I'm not explaining anything about this product on purpose because a full demo and review of this is coming up)

Innisfree - It's real squeeze Mask

  • It's real squeeze mask - Tea Tree
  • It's real squeeze mask - Shea Butter
  • It's real squeeze mask - Cucumber
  • It's real squeeze mask - Manuka Honey
  • Price : 760 won x 4
  • Product link here

 INNISFREE - Intensive Ampoule Mask

I discovered these, in one of Michelle Phan's video and I found the idea to be quite genius : You have a separate serum to apply just before the mask right on the upper left.

Individual reviews to come as always ! (Check the Product Directory to see which one I've already reviewed !)

Get all of these products, and more on TesterKorea which is currently having 30% off ! (Starting from January 2015)

HAUL : TesterKorea - The first order

Hi there, you wouldn't actually believe that this order is from a few months ago (April/May) and it was my very first order from TesterKorea as well as my first time using korean products (considering that the Memebox came at the same time too).

Tester Korea

Testerkorea is a global korean website selling Korean make-up and skincare brands. The highlight of this specific website is that they pretty much sell every korean brand you could think of, and even if there isn't what you want on their website, you simply request your item and they will stock it for you. Back when I ordered this, it was on the old website and boy, it was laggy and annoying (Koreans love IE optimized websites) and I even had to finish the order on my iPhone after trying with both a mac computer and windows one. But that's all in the past because they revamped the whole website and there's no more problems whatsoever. The other big points : I find them to have the cheapest prices among other korean beauty shops +  They sell samples making it easier for you to try products before actually purchasing it. How many of you have bought something they barely use or just don't like ? Well, that's exactly what happened to me.

They are nice enough to label your order as only 20$ worth of goods so that you don't get any troubles with customs.

 Quantity : 170 ml
Price : 6,500 won (approx 4,80€)

SKIN&LAB - C Plus Brightening Cream

IT'S SKIN - 10 Formula WH Effector Essence

INNISFREE - No Sebum Mineral Powder

 Quantity : 5 g
Price : 3,600 won (approx 2,70€)

SHEET MASKS

  • Nature Republic (EXO) - Snail Solution Hydrogel Mask Sheet
  • Foodholic - Cucumber Natural Essence Mask
  • It's Skin (Nichkhun) - Aloe Calming Mask Sheet
  • Etude House - Green Tea Mask Sheet
  • INNISFREE - It's Real Rice Mask sheet (x3)
  • Holika Holika (Park Shin Hye & Jung Il Woo) - Aqua Water Mask

  Free Samples

I was quite disappointed with the free samples, in the reviews I read before ordering I saw people with a ton of samples and I was quite disappointed. The only interesting stuff were the MISSHA Night Repair sample and ETUDE HOUSE's Cherry Tint. (Spot the Too Cool For School BB Cream samples that are obviously too light for a NC42/Barcelona skintone)

The order got approximately 3 weeks to come to Paris and I was really happy with my order (although I'm not a huge fan of all the products, you'll see that in the reviews to come).
